Report an Absence Online

Principal Message and Community Communication 9/16/22

Hello Shelton Families,

I appreciate this community and all the amazing people I get to share it with! Thank you for sharing your kid(s) with us and for your engagement with our community. I have enjoyed seeing so many adults volunteering to support our learning and student experiences at Shelton. I had an amazing lunch with the recipient of the contest to win a lunch with me from Back to School Night. Oscar won and brought his friend Ben. Thanks to the PTSA for making this happen!

Here are some updates and links to important information:

Student Fees & Free and Reduced Lunch

Student Fees are loaded in Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Please go in to pay your fees. Thanks for your support. Also remember to fill out the application for Free and Reduced Lunch and share with school as you may be eligible to have your fees waived. If you need any help with Free and Reduced Lunch, please reach out to Megan Goodpaster, Family Engagement Liaison. The window to sign up closes on 9/28 and every application is helpful to families and to Shelton.

October Count

We Need YouR Child(REN)

Thank YOU!

It’s official – October Count Day this year is Monday, October 3rd. The most important action you can take to support school funding for Shelton is to make sure your student attends school on that day. Much of public education funding from the State of Colorado is based on student count so we encourage you to be sure your child engages in school that day.

The “count window” the state observes is from Monday, September 26th through Monday, October 10th but the most important student count day is Monday, October 3rd. Please help us ensure an accurate count by having your student participate in learning that day.

If your child will be absent on Monday, October 3rd due to illness, call our attendance line, 303-982-5700 to report the absence. Attendance during the “count window” will help counteract an absence on Monday, October 3rd.

All students at school on October 3rd will be entered to win a bike and helmet!! Check out the flyer.

Thank you for your support of Shelton Elementary school. Every child counts always!

CMAS Family resource for understanding score report

Here is the CDE family fact sheet that helps families understand what the CMAS score report is telling them about their child’s academic achievement. We have updated the CMAS/CoAlt Score guidance document with this information. You could post this information to your website or include in a newsletter for families to access electronically if you choose. There is no requirement to print this fact sheet for all families.
