Academic Support

At Shelton, we believe every child can succeed with the right support.

Our academic support programs are designed to help all students grow, whether they need extra help, enrichment, or targeted skill development. 

Tiered Support System
We use a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to meet students where they are:

• Tier 1: High-quality classroom instruction and differentiated learning for all students.

• Tier 2: Small-group interventions for students who need additional support in reading, writing, or math.

• Tier 3: Individualized instruction and specialized interventions for students who need more intensive support.

Specialized Services
Our teachers collaborate with specialists, including reading interventionists, special education teachers, and English Language Development (ELD) staff, to ensure every learner’s needs are met.

Progress Monitoring
We regularly assess student growth and adjust supports as needed, partnering with families to celebrate progress and plan next steps together.

Family Involvement
Parents and guardians are key partners in student success. We provide updates, resources, and strategies to help families reinforce learning at home.
