Our Mission
Shelton's Mission is to equip and inspire students to be active and engaged citizens in a diverse and changing world.
We work toward our mission through problem-based learning, strong teacher retention, engagement with families, a robust set of extracurricular options, and an active PTSA.

Problem-Based Learning at Shelton
All Shelton students engage in problem-based learning (PBL) throughout their time at school.Problem-based learning (PBL) is a student-centered approach in which students study complex, real-world problems by working in groups to solve an open-ended problem.

Shelton has a large garden which offers a beautiful outdoor classroom space, including for problem-based learning.

The Shelton Community
Shelton Elementary School is dedicated to crafting an exhilarating educational experience that sparks student achievement and success. By focusing on the unique needs of each student, embracing technology, engaging in problem-based learning, and fostering vibrant parent-community involvement, Shelton creates a truly dynamic environment. With 385 students enrolled in preK through 5th grade, our school is a melting pot of cultures, representing fifteen different languages!
Community spirit thrives at Shelton, showcased through our hands-on STEM night, vibrant Art, Music, and PE showcase, and the culturally rich Heritage Fair.
After School Enrichment Activities
In partnership with the Shelton PTSA, students have an extensive range of after-school enrichment activities, including sports, gardening, STEM, robotics, chess, art, drama, cooking, and more! Students can push their limits and shine through competitions like the National Spelling Bee, as well as captivating drama and music performances, not to mention the PTA-sponsored National Reflections Contest.
