Principal's Message, 9/5/17

Dear Shelton Families,

We have now been in school for three weeks and things are starting to work themselves out.  The transportation issues have been resolved, students know their teachers and where their classrooms are located, but most importantly, students and families are starting to feel part of a bigger community and are making new friends.

"Without a sense of caring, there can be no sense of community."

Shelton's Mission:

To equip and inspire students to be active and engaged citizens in a diverse and changing world.

Shelton's Vision:

  • Foster a diverse, safe, and welcoming community and learning environment.
  • Engage students in a rigorous academic environment that meets their individual needs and interests.
  • Nurture the joy of learning.
  • Instill critical thinking skills.
  • Promote strong relationships among parents, teachers and students.

Advanced Learning Plans

Jefferson County Public Schools is dedicated to providing comprehensive programming for the identification and education of the gifted and talented student. Gifted and talented students are those students between the ages of four and twenty-one years whose abilities, talents, and potential for accomplishment are so exceptional or developmentally advanced that they require special provisions to meet their educational programming needs. The district believes that a quality instructional program that differentiates curriculum and instruction is essential so all students can learn and grow at their level of potential.  Learn more about ALP’s.
