Principal's Message, 9/26/17

Dear Shelton Families,

I hope you all had a great week and enjoyed the cooler weather.  Fall is such a pretty time of year!

Congrats to Will Hennington!

Thank you for all of you that participated in this year's t-shirt competition for the Coyote 5K Classic.  We had a small group of kids that voted and the winner is Will Hennington in 3rd grade.  Everyone participating in this year's 5K Classic on Sunday will receive a shirt.

Fifth Grade Transition Meeting

Fifth grade parents and other interested families, plan to attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 4th from 6:00 – 7:00 PM at Shelton.  Michele DeAndrea, Bell Middle School principal, Brenda Carlson, our Achievement Director, several 5thgrade parents and I will be here to answer your questions about the 6th grade transition to middle school specifically to Bell Middle School. Here is the website for the 6th Grade Transition to Bell Middle  -  You will also find the district website linked there as well.

Kim Mangle, Caroline Blair and Lee Ridley, our three 5th grade representatives, are also helping our community learn more about the transition.  Please read the information letter where you will find timely information on the transition.

Volunteers Needed

With over 100 new students this year, our cafeteria is a busy place!  In order to help the lunch lines move quicker and the cafeteria remain quieter and cleaner, I am hoping to get some parent volunteers to help out.  We could use help every day between the hours of 11:00 and 1:00.  If you can only help one day a week for an hour, we welcome it. Any help is appreciated.

Attendance and October Count

Your child’s attendance is important because students are more likely to succeed in academics when they attend school consistently. It's difficult for the teacher and the class to build their skills and progress if a large number of students are frequently absent.  It is very important that students attend school during our October count as well. October count is from September 25th to October 9th with October 2nd being the official October count day.  October count is important as well as this is how schools receive much of their funding.  PLEASE ensure your children come to school on time and regularly every day.  It’s a win-win for everyone.

Please do not park in the perimeter around the school parking lot.  This is a No Parking Zone. In addition, PLEASE do not park by the garden area or in the service drive before, during or after school, even for YMCA pick-up or drop-off.  Use the parking lot spaces provided.  Last week our trash did not get picked up in a timely fashion as cars were parked by the garden area and the trash truck could not get through to the dumpsters. Your help is appreciated.
