Staff Appreciation

Thank you so much to our PTSA for showing the love for our teachers and staff.  Teachers and staff felt very much appreciated last week with the lunches and goodies.  Parents, thank you for showing your appreciating by having your child(ren) write notes and letters.   Teachers loved them

Wendy White Retirement

After years of hard work and dedication, it is time to take a vacation.

Please join as in congratulating Wendy White in saying Aloha Retirement. Mrs. White has taught for 20 years with 11 years being at Shelton Elementary. She has taught every child at Shelton. Please join us in celebrating the next phases of her life on May 17th from 3:45 to 4:45 in the library.

Holly Robel Retirement

Mrs. Robel is also retiring after 20 years of teaching. We will have an open house in her classroom for Shelton families between 3:00 and 4:30 on Monday the 21st of May.  She would love it if families would come by to say hello and wish her happy retirement.

Safe Routes to Schools – What a Huge Success!

Shelton Elementary celebrated another awesome BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY last Wednesday! This year's event had over 150 riders pedaling as far as Beverly Heights and South Table Mountain neighborhoods. A special thanks to Greg Sabatos and Megan Greenlee for organizing the event, Peak Cycles for give-a-ways and gear checks, Golden Police Department and Bicycle Colorado for a super fun obstacle course and bike rodeo for our kindergarten students. Also thanks to the City of Golden for installing SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL signs just in time for this year's event!

Jeffco’s Summer of Early Literacy

JSEL (Jeffco Summer of Early Learning) is a six-week, intensive summer school program that focuses on increasing students’ literacy and math skills. JSEL will be in session from June 6-July 18, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. each day, except July 4. Parents from any Jeffco school may choose from any of the seven locations. Dual language programs for students who are currently enrolled in dual language programs will be held at Emory and Lumberg.

Each day, kindergarten through third-grade students (grades for the 2018-19 school year) will have the same emphasis on reading and writing as they do during the school year. Students will also deepen their number sense and develop problem-solving abilities through a variety of math activities. Small class sizes will allow all students to learn in an authentic, experienced-based, and engaging manner.

Students who are not currently at end-of-year benchmarks or are on a READ plan who have been recommended by his/her teacher are eligible for JSEL. JSEL is for students who are entering grades kindergarten through third grade in the fall of 2018.

JSEL is free to all eligible students and also offers free breakfast and lunch through the Federal Summer Lunch Program. Click here to view the brochure (Spanish) which provides additional information about the program. Parents must complete the registration form (Spanish) by Friday, May 30.

Coyote Choir

What a great turnout for the Coyote Choir Concert. Both Mrs. Adducci and her students worked diligently all year to perform.  I hope you enjoyed the concert and more students will join the choir again next year.  If you are moving on to middle school, you can join the choir there as well.
